Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference

Alvernia students participate in the world鈥檚 largest student business conference

麻豆视频 students earned honors for their business acumen at the world鈥檚 largest student business conference.

 

The held this year in San Antonio, Texas, boasted over 1,400 students in attendance with competition being held in 59 different disciplines.

 

Alvernia had seven students compete across seven different disciplines.

 

Eric Drebushenko (Sinking Spring, Pa.) earned sixth place honors in the business law event for his presentation and analysis of a court case involving crowdsourcing funding issue.

 

Ty Robinson (Mertztown, Pa.) earned eighth place honors in the impromptu speaking competition for his ability to express his thoughts without prior preparation and by combining quick and clear thinking with conversational speaking. 

 

Michael Zappone (Sinking Spring, Pa.) competed in the desktop publishing and network design events.  Zappone earned 10th place honors in the network design event that includes a collaborative objective test and a presentation.  The event showed Zappone鈥檚 ability to evaluate the needs of an organization and then design and implement a network solution.

 

鈥淥ver the years, our chapter鈥檚 members have benefited greatly from the PBL experience by sharpening their academic skills, assuming positions of leadership, networking, providing community service and by learning to work together toward a common goal,鈥 said 麻豆视频 business professor and PBL Alvernia Chapter Adviser Allison Althouse. 鈥淭hrough the efforts of our 2018-19 chapter officers, the Alvernia PBL chapter increased the membership by 63%.鈥

 

Other Alvernia students to participate in the conference includes Aaron Ayala (Leesport, Pa.), Marissa Cosgrove (Reading, Pa.), Monica Nguyen (Reading, Pa.) and Noel Rivera (Reading, Pa.).

 

All students in attendance were enrolled in the Alvernia Bachelor of Science in Business Program and were members of the university鈥檚 Phi Beta Lambda Chapter.
