Watch the "Our Town" Trailer

University to perform 鈥淥ur Town鈥 November 3-5 and 10-12

麻豆视频鈥檚 Theatre Department will perform the critically acclaimed, Pulitzer Prize-winning fall show "Our Town鈥 by playwright Thornton Wilder.

鈥淲ilder, like all great playwrights, shows us all of the facets of flawed and glorious humanity,鈥 said Dr. Nathan Thomas, 麻豆视频 Theatre program director. 鈥淲hat the audience will take away with them is a connection between the humanity of these characters and their own humanity.  At a time when more folks seem to feel isolated and dealing with the after-effects of the trauma of the pandemic, I think we need more opportunities to feel a connection with others.鈥

The production will be held Nov. 3-5 and 10-12 at 8 p.m. as well as Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $5 for all community members.

鈥淒r. Thomas has a unique way of inviting students to uncover the depths of themselves within their characters,鈥 said Jessica Warchal-King, artist-in-residence & adjunct professor. 鈥淎s an audience member, I experience that personally and it鈥檚 an incredible gift for both the process of the performer and in the moment of performance for this audience member. 鈥

鈥淥ur Town鈥 appeared on Broadway in 1938. It explores the relationship between two young neighbors in the mythical village of Grover's Corners, George Gibbs and Emily Webb. The circle of life is portrayed in the three acts of Our Town and encompasses growing up, adulthood, and death.
