DOE grant first of its kind for university

 

麻豆视频 receives a $2.3 million Title III grant from the U.S. Department of Education, under the Strengthening Institutions Program. The grant will enable Alvernia to strengthen student achievement, persistence and retention, particularly in the formative first two years of the baccalaureate programs.

 

"This is a momentous achievement for Alvernia, and I am very proud of the effort and collaboration our team put into this process. We are thankful and excited to receive this highly-competitive grant," said Alvernia President John R. Loyack. "The drafting and submission process required a high level of leadership and collaboration across campus, and we look forward to continuing that work as we head into the next five years of implementing our strategy."

 

The grant, which is distributed over a five-year period, may be utilized in a variety of ways, including development and improvement of academic programs, construction and renovation of instructional facilities, and faculty development.

The Federal Title III Strengthening Institutions Program helps eligible colleges and universities expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen academic quality and institutional management and fiscal stability.
