University partnership with B. Braun Medical Inc. provides experiential learning and workforce development

Alvernia launches the Apprenticeship to Degree Program, an innovative initiative that establishes a dynamic partnership between the university and local industries, small businesses, and government entities for long-term experiential learning opportunities and workforce development. The program's first partnership has been established with B. Braun Medical Inc. (B. Braun), a global leader in medical technology based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

"This program embodies our mission of providing students with a transformational education that prepares them for meaningful careers," said 麻豆视频 President Glynis A. Fitzgerald, Ph.D. "By partnering with industry leaders like B. Braun, we are creating opportunities for unique experiential learning for students while contributing to the economic growth of our community."

The Apprenticeship to Degree Program at Alvernia is designed to meet the evolving needs of both students and industry partners. Through paid externships and internships, Alvernia students embark on a journey of professional growth and development while employers are able to introduce students to their organizational culture with the prospect of making long-term hires. Students enrolled in the program come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, and many are first-generation college students. They will gain valuable employment opportunities and enjoy the benefits of subsidized on-campus housing, credits toward graduation, and a comprehensive orientation to the diverse career options throughout the region.

"The AU Apprenticeship to Degree Program is not just an internship program, it's a brain gain for students and the local community and helps students and their families subsidize the cost of higher education through valuable experiential learning opportunities," said 麻豆视频 Senior Vice President and Provost Leamor Kahanov, Ed.D. "We are thrilled to officially launch this program with a terrific partner in B. Braun and look forward to continuing to partner with other local organizations to offer our students unique opportunities to integrate their academic learning with practical experience."

Under the partnership with B. Braun, students in the program will have the opportunity to work in various roles related to their field of study. This hands-on experience is not only valuable for the students but also provides B. Braun with a pipeline of well-prepared, future-ready employees.

鈥淏. Braun has a long tradition of supporting experiential learning through internships and apprenticeships. These programs give students the opportunity to gain on-the-job knowledge, learn about our business and culture, and get a foot in the door to start a career path,鈥 said Leigh Ann Stradford, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at B. Braun. 鈥淲e are pleased to partner with 麻豆视频 as they launch their new Apprenticeship to Degree Program and look forward to working with AU students at our Lehigh Valley facilities.鈥

The Apprenticeship to Degree Program is a key component of Alvernia鈥檚 broader strategy to enhance student outcomes through experiential learning. The program fosters familiarity and consistency by encouraging students to engage with the same organization/employer for multiple years, enhancing exposure, understanding and appreciation for the employer's industry.
