Executive leadership expert brings 25 years of experience in talent acquisition and workforce planning

Alvernia appoints Karen Machol Piraino to its board of trustees, strengthening the university’s focus on workforce development and talent acquisition. With nearly 25 years of leadership experience across industries such as healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing, Piraino will play a pivotal role in supporting the university’s mission to prepare students for successful careers through experiential learning and industry partnerships.

“Karen’s extensive experience in human resources and executive leadership aligns perfectly with our strategic goals as a comprehensive regional university,” said �鶹��Ƶ President Glynis A. Fitzgerald, Ph.D. “Her insight will be instrumental in shaping our initiatives that connect academic programs with the needs of today’s industries.”

Piraino’s distinguished career includes her role as head of recruitment and onboarding at Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest healthcare network, and leadership positions at Axalta Coating Systems, DuPont, Teva Pharmaceuticals, and ARAMARK. Since retiring, she has operated Mirador Talent Consulting, and recently served as a consultant to Alvernia by helping restructure its Career Services Office.

Shemanski. “Her background in talent acquisition and workforce planning makes her a valuable addition to our board, and we look forward to her contributions as we continue to advance our mission.”

Piraino holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Fordham University and remains active in the community as a member of Sacred Heart Church in West Reading and as a board member for Berks Catholic High School.
