University receives silver distinction recognizing continued support of military-affiliated students
has named Alvernia a 2025-2026 , awarding the university a silver designation for the second year in a row. The distinction highlights Alvernia’s strong commitment to supporting student veterans, service members and military-affiliated learners through dedicated resources, flexible pathways and financial assistance.
“Alvernia’s continued recognition as a Military Friendly® School reflects our commitment to ensuring all military-affiliated students receive the support, respect and opportunities they deserve,” said Alvernia Vice President for Mission, Diversity and Inclusion Darryl C. Mace, Ph.D. “Through personalized guidance, comprehensive resources and a community-centered experience, we are proud to serve those who have served our country.”
More than 1,800 institutions participated in the Military Friendly® survey, with 830 earning award-level designations. Final ratings are determined by combining survey scores with public data related to student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence and loan default rates—both for the general student population and specifically for student veterans. The 2025-2026 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May and October issues of G.I. Jobs magazine and is available online at .

This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages institutions to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, exceeding the standard.”
鶹Ƶ offers a range of services and resources to support military-affiliated students, including dedicated admissions and financial aid counseling, academic advising, and career services. The university’s Veterans Center provides a welcoming space for military-affiliated students to connect, share experiences, and access additional support services. Furthermore, Alvernia’s partnership with local veteran organizations and participation in community service projects exemplifies the university’s Franciscan values of service and community engagement.
In addition to robust support services, Alvernia participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, enhancing the educational benefits available through the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. This program helps cover tuition and fees, making higher education more accessible and affordable for veterans and their dependents.
For the fifth consecutive year, Alvernia also earned a national endorsement in military support from (COD) for offering comprehensive educational benefits, a military and veterans’ affairs team, flexible and accessible educational options, faculty training, campus activities specific to veterans, and community support.
