Medical Laboratory Science
The School of Medical Laboratory Science at the Reading Hospital provides a year-long educational experience equivalent to the senior year of college for those who major in Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology. After successful completion of the program, students receive their Bachelor of Science degree from Â鶹ÊÓƵ. The curriculum is a structured educational program consisting of clinical laboratory experience, lectures, reading assignments, and examinations. All educational experiences occur at the hospital and hospital campus.
Nursing Program
Â鶹ÊÓƵ has an affiliation with Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences. Physical sciences, biological sciences, behavioral sciences, and English composition are taught by University Faculty at the School of Health Sciences. The affiliation enables Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences Nursing Program graduates to qualify for the RN to BSN Completion Program. Students enrolled in the Nursing Program earn college credit for the general education courses.
- Registered Nurse Diploma Program and Associate of Science Degree in Applied Health – This dual enrollment program allows students who complete their pre-licensure nursing education at RHSHS the opportunity to simultaneously earn their Associate of Science Degree in Applied Health through Alvernia.
- RN to BSN Completion – This BSN Completion program allows registered nurses to complete their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Nursing classes are primarily delivered in a 7-week module format, allowing for completion in as little as 12 months. The course content, scheduled throughout the year in a 100% online format, is taught via innovative distance education technologies and features prompt instructor accessibility. A custom curriculum has been developed for Reading Hospital School of Health Science students.
Medical Imaging
Â鶹ÊÓƵ has an articulation agreement with Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences. Through a dual enrollment arrangement, students who enroll in the Medical Imaging Program offered at Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences may simultaneously enroll in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Associate of Science in Medical Imaging degree program. Dually enrolled students who successfully complete all aspects of the curriculum are eligible to graduate with two awards, each conferred by their respective institution: a certificate of completion in Medical Imaging from Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences and an Associate of Science in Medical Imaging from Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
- Medical Imaging Program with an Associate of Science Degree in Medical Imaging – This 27-month dual enrollment program allows RHSHS students to simultaneously pursue both their Medical Imaging Certification and an Alvernia Associate of Science Degree in Medical Imaging. Students who successfully complete both programs are eligible to sit for the ARRT National Registry Examination. Graduates further looking to advance their careers can also pursue a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Healthcare Science.
- Surgical Technology Program with an Associate of Science Degree – This 20-month dual enrollment program gives RHSHS students the opportunity to complete the Surgical Technology Program while simultaneously earning an Alvernia Associate of Science Degree. Graduates further looking to advance their careers can also pursue a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or Healthcare Science.
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program with an Associate of Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography – This 27-month dual enrollment program allows RHSHS students to simultaneously pursue both their Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification and an Alvernia Associate of Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Students who successfully complete both programs are eligible to sit for the national credentialing exams through the American Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) upon completion. The new program is subject to the appropriate accreditation approvals.
