The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Media Suite is a student-run, state-of-the-art facility housing a collaborative environment for working on all sorts of projects. Students, faculty, and staff can bring their own electronic devices in to work on projects, display video feeds to HD screens at each table, and collaborate on projects within the facility. The Media Suite also has laptops available for use for anyone needing a computer.

MEDIA EQUIPMENT
Working on a project? Don’t own the necessary multimedia technology? Don’t fret, the Media Suite has got you covered! The Media Suite provides  technology loan-out services for everyone on campus. Equipment is available to both faculty and students on a daily basis. Please read our Media Suite Policies section for additional information and the Equipment Request policy.

COLLABORATION STATIONS

The main Media Suite space is a collaborative environment to fit the needs of the university. There are three collaboration tables complete with power hookups and an HD monitor at each table. Students can work in groups at each table to collaborate on a project, display a video feed from their device to the screen so the groups can see what is being worked on. This area is also designed as a teaching space to house workshops with the Media Suite front desk serving as a teaching area to display a signal to all the monitors at once. 

The Collaboration area also has an editing station complete with iMac desktops and iMac Pros for handling all sorts of heavier multimedia projects. Students, faculty, and staff are free to use these computers when working on projects that require significant processing power, or for any iMac-specific projects. 

 

The Media Suite also has the following services:

  • 300dpi scanner
  • Inkjet photo printer
  • CD/DVD burning and copying
  • Cardstock paper printing

 

4K TV STUDIO

Do you have a project that requires video creation? Or are you a faculty member who wants to put video lectures online in a sharp, modern format? The Media Suite’s video studio features green screen technology with several templates available. It also features UHD 4K video production equipment including a Blackmagic video switcher, a Behringer sound board, LED lights controlled via a light board, a teleprompter, and two 4K video cameras with independent video feeds handled by our staff members. The Video Studio can be reserved by submitting a request to the Service Desk. SELF-SERVICE RECORDING ROOM

Want to record a high-quality video recording on your own without the bells-and-whistles of the video studio? Reserve the new One-Button Studio for self-service green-screen video recordings. All you have to do is plug in a USB flash-drive, push a button and you can have your own lecture recordings made right there. When you're done, you can either take the recording home, edit the video in the Media Suite, or give the file to a Media Suite staff member to handle the editing. 

The One-Button Studio is equipped with the following equipment and features:

  • An HD video camera with interchangable lenses
  • LED lighting
  • Studio-quality microphone
  • Sound-proofed walls for sound isolation and clarity
  • Green screen wall for optional Chroma-Key editing

 

AUDIO RECORDING

Looking to record high-quality audio for an instructor lecture? Need a space to record crisp audio in Adobe Audition or Garageband for a project? Reserve the new Whisper Booth for a personal recording space designed for audiophile-grade sound recordings. Bring in your laptop or plug in a USB flash-drive, connect your device to the studio-quality microphone, and press record to capture your audio recordings in a noise-cancelling, high-fidelity environment. 

 

PRINT SERVICES

Do you have a poster print project? Could your club benefit from displaying upcoming events? The Media Suite offers high quality large poster printing services. Email your file to mediasuite@alvernia.edu. We'll give you a quote for the cost of your print (cost varies on paper size and type). Please read our Media Suite Policies section for additional information and the Poster and Printing policy.

 

TRAINING
Media Suite Students and Staff are available for various Software Training including use of Canvas Learning Management System, Turnitin, Respondus, Zoom Web Conference, Camtasia, Panopto and more. In order to receive training in the Media Suite, a service request must be emailed to classroomsupport@alvernia.edu requesting the type of training, day and time requested.  We provide individual and small/large group trainings.  A representative from the Media Suite will confirm the appointment.
