Mock Trial team

Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Mock Trial Team offers students a platform to engage in simulated courtroom experiences, enhancing their public speaking, legal reasoning and teamwork skills.

What is Mock Trial?

Mock Trial is a dynamic, hands-on experience that allows students to step into the roles of attorneys and witnesses as they argue cases in simulated courtroom trials. Participants develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills while competing against other universities in the competitions.

Students take on the lawyer (defense and plaintiff/prosecution) and witness roles. Alvernia's team — which was established in January 2021 and competed in its first AMTA-sanctioned season in 2022-2023 — travels to other universities to compete in invitational tournaments, eventually competing in the in the spring semester.

There is also a 1-credit class associated with Mock Trial that students can take multiple times, earning credit toward the Political Science major or the SEARCH requirements.
